Study of Education During the Republic of Kampuchea
Having gained independency from France in 1953, Cambodia started construct its nation-state through paying attending to developing and implementing the educational field. New schools were built in both towns and rural countries. Higher establishments which the French had ignored to supply during its settlement were made into exist in the capital and a few chief provincial metropoliss. However, the most singular educational advancement wholly disappeared during the 1970s, particularly at the 2nd half of 1970s ( International Educational Journal Vol.5, N0 1, 2004, p.90 ) . After the prostration of Khmer Rough control and under the strong support from Vietnam and other socialist states in 1979, the People ââ¬Ës Republic of Kampuchea ( PRK ) led by Heng Samrin started to reconstruct the state from immense desolation of twelvemonth nothing ( Scholarly Journal by Gene V Glass, volume 11, 2003 ) . The freshly liberated government ââ¬Ës top precedence between 1979 and 1981 was to recon struct instruction establishments. Its policy on heightening instruction was in the interview with a senior instruction functionary who had been involved in basic instruction and instructor preparation since 1979: ââ¬Å" 1979-1981 was a period of restructuring and rehabilitating both substructure and human resources. The restructuring and rehabilitation I refer was roll uping school- age kids and seting them in school despite the hapless status of the school and even carry oning categories in the unfastened air or under the trees. We appealed to all those instructors and literate people who survived to learn nonreaders. There were no licences or any high demands for keeping a teaching occupation. We merely tried to open school and literary categories ; we did n't care about quality â⬠( Scholarly Journal by Gene V Glass, volume 11, 2003, pp 6-7 ) . The instruction system used by the government was 4 + 3 + 3, which means pupils had to pass four old ages at primary school, three old ages at lower secondary and another three old ages at upper secondary 1. The system was implemented in answer to emergent demands for human resources for state rehabilitation. The chief aim of the system of instruction was to organize new and good hard-working citizens with a luggage of civilization, of proficient consciousness, of a capacity for work, of good wellness and of a radical morality ready to function Kampuchea revolution with efforts to construct a socialist province through the development of instruction. â⬠( Ayres, 2003, pp.137-139 ) The first school twelvemonth began on September 24, 1979, which was announced by Heng Samrin, the PRK president seting every incrimination on the about four-year Khmer Rough government led by Pol Pot ( Ayres, p. 126 ) . What really obstructed the quality of instruction, particularly at primary and high school degrees during the PRK from 1979 to 1989? To understand that, the undermentioned factors should be raised and considered. Initially, there was a bad deficit of good and qualified instruction staff for the state ââ¬Ës schools. The PRK claimed in 1984 that 75 per cent of instructors were murdered by the Khmer Rough ( Ayres, p.126 ) . ââ¬Å" The state had merely 13,619 instructors, at a ratio of 1 instructor for every 53 pupils. Merely 4,000 had formal makings. In add-on to their deficiency of experiences and makings, instructors had other concerns like traveling about the state looking for losing relations they had lost under the Khmer Rough, believing about their parents who had died, hapless physical wellness, psychological injury, hapless memory and concentration, so the instruction force was certainly really weak. ( Ayres, 2003, pp132-133 ) . To promote school engagement, the authorities used the mottos like those who know more Teachs those who know less and another 1 was traveling to learn and traveling to school is nation-loving. Peoples with any degree of instruction who survived from the killi ng government was asked and encouraged to go instructors, professors, and administrative officials in the educational field. Potential instructors were given short- term preparation for one month, three hebdomads, or even two hebdomads and so started learning. ( Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, 1998 ) . Second, there was a monolithic registration of pupils at primary and secondary schools. For illustration, by November 1979, 716,553 pupils had officially enrolled in primary schools throughout Cambodia, which was impossible for the government to deviate resources to preparation and retraining of school instructors, doing schoolroom instructions at low criterion ( Ayres, p.132 ; p.138 ) Third, there was a deficiency of qualified instruction leader and direction staff at the ministry. One former functionary said, ââ¬Å" because we did non cognize where to we should get down. We were lost â⬠( Ayres, p.129 ) . Chan Ven, the new curate of instruction, who had been a high school natural philosophies instructor, said that he and his qualified Kampuchean co-workers did non hold any thoughts and had no sense of where to get down and make. The most attending they paid to was to set the pupils in schools every bit rapidly as possible so that they could construct Kampuchea into a state of new socialist workingmans, and when asked about the enlistings and preparation of instructors, the quality of instruction and what would be taught, he replied that it was beyond the capacity of Cambodia ministry of instruction. They surely needed the aid of Vietnamese experts ( Ayres, p. 128 ) . The 4th point was the hapless status of educational infrastructure. ââ¬Å" With every bit much as 90 % of the school edifices destroyed in Cambodia â⬠( Ledgerwood, J. ( N.d ) . Education in Cambodia. Retrieved from hypertext transfer protocol: //www.seasite.niu.edu/khmer/Ledgerwood/education.htm ) . Some schools had no Windowss, deficient furniture, so the pupils had to sit and analyze on the floor. The figure of school edifices and schoolrooms did non fit the big figure of the pupils ââ¬Ë registration. There were excessively many pupils that some of them had to take categories in the unfastened air under the trees, in antecedently used infirmaries, or at countries surrounded by mines and cemeteries ( Ayres, p. 133 ) . The following factor was the learning capacity of the state ââ¬Ës pupils. Many pupils were enduring from malnutrition or diseases, particularly malaria, that they had got from old old ages, and like their instructors, they had other concerns about looking for their surviving relations, believing about their parents who had passed off, their basic shelters, necessary nutrient, apparels, etc. , which could impact their learning memory and concentration ( Ayres, p. 135 ) . ââ¬Å" In primary school about 30 per cent of the kids had no male parent, 10 per cent had no female parent, and between 5 and 10 per cent were orphans â⬠( Postlethwaite, 1988 ) . In add-on to the five facets mentioned earlier, larning and learning stuffs were in a bad deficit. Although some stuffs used in old governments were non wholly destroyed by the DK, those stuffs could non be used as the government used new text editions so as to accomplish their purpose. Some instructors used clay as a pen to compose on the board. Seven or eight pupils shared one book and a stub of pencil. By 1980, the Centre for Program Writing and Textbooks had produced 39 texts for the usage in primary schools, several for secondary schools, and a individual text for usage in grownup literacy instruction classs ( Ayres, pp, 129 ; 133 ) . Next, although the PRK held the power of the state, the government was non internationally recognized. As a consequence, the Kampuchean place at the United Nation phase was non given to the PRK, but to the authorities of the DK because the international community was non certain whether Vietnam had liberated or invaded Cambodia, which caused a hold in supplying the human-centered aid to the PRK, and the assistance trade stoppage that was to follow it, both impact the PRK government ââ¬Ës capacity to rehabilitate Cambodia and devastated Kampuchean people ( Ayres, pp. 126 ; 136 ) What is more is that the government chiefly aimed to construct a socialist province with socialist workingmans through the development of instruction. So, it focused more on higher instruction and grownup literacy instruction than the lower degrees ( Ayres, pp. 137-138 ) Besides, contending between the PRK and DK and its confederation still continued at Cambodian-Thai boundary line, so immature work forces were needed for national defense mechanism ( Ayres, p. 125 ) . Last, the course of study was non from the ministry of instruction, but by lasting instructors severally. The first schools opened were non province schools but private 1s. The lessons largely focused on literacy, and instructors taught from their memory as what Suon Serey, a instructor who opened her ain school, said. To sum up, the summarized factors mentioned above indicate intelligibly why the quality of instruction during the PRK was so hapless. Decision All things seen and considered, the cause of hapless quality of instruction at primary and secondary degrees during the PRK was chiefly resulted severely from the Khmer Rough government, and partially from the presence of Vietnamese soldiers in Cambodia during that period.

Statement of Intent
Statement of Intent The title of my Final Major Project is ââ¬Å"Military Heroâ⬠. I will focus on the area of fashion and will work towards producing a small capsule collection consisting of a jacket/coat and a dress that I hope to create and display on show. It will be based around the ever popular military style; which has always been a favourite of mine. In my pathway project my theme was ââ¬Å"Architecture in Fashionâ⬠of where I looked at structure and form, I found this theme to be very broad and endless.I also produced a garment based on the theme of shirt-making for a design competition, as I am progressing to University of Ulster to study the BA Hons Degree in Textile Art, Design and Fashion I feel I have made the right area and theme to work with for this project. I will start by looking at period weapons, medals, and armour of which I will use to produce a range of observational studies at A1 size.As I am focusing on Military Fashion I will take my inspiration from fashion designers Frida Giannini, Christopher Bailey, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano as I find their work and style to have elements of what Iââ¬â¢m aiming to achieve as a final outcome for my final major project. I will also refer back to the uniforms worn by the armed forces and paramilitaries of various nations. Fashion magazines and the internet as well as my collegeââ¬â¢s library are also resources I will use. On completion of my visual recording and references I intend to begin the design cycle of the final outcome.I will start by researching the style of garments I shall design through creating moodboardââ¬â¢s relating to colour, style and my military theme; I will then produce a capsule collection board of fashion designs which I will then develop further. Through completing class critiques I will refer to my peer comments and advice from specialism tutors to make a final decision. Once decided I will move on to creating a pattern that will then lead on to the making of a toile this will help me to make any adjustments needed. After this is completed I will compose the final pieces onto fabric that I have chosen. To make sure I do not have to deal with any complications I aim to do each stage two weeks in advance. All work that I do will be critically evaluated as I go along, this will help me to stay on track and I will also record websites, ideas and my schedule in my daily diary. The military styled capsule collection will be on exhibition and modelled on two size 10 mannequins at my collegeââ¬â¢s end of year show. I will have couture photography of the garments mounted in the background and will also have my project sketchbook displayed on a plinth. If I have any spare time I will also make myself a top based around my military theme. William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet - 1552 Words
Romeo and Juliet, is a story of forbidden love, drama, and identity. While most may think that this play is just one of those love stories read for entertainment, it holds a many connotations that can relate to modern society. As Romeo and Juliet s love develops, so does their deadly secret retracting them from one another more and more. As these two children learn the true meaning of love, they are blinded by the world around them. Their identity takes a strong stand in their ability to love one another: ââ¬Å"My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to meâ⬠(Shakespeare 15). They both come from dichotomous families; the Montagues and Capulets, the deadly feud betweenâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Gregor remember thy swashing blowââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ (4 -5). Thus began the violent episode of the two feuding families. In effect this results in the anger of the civilians and the prince; everyone around them is affected deeply by their feud: ââ¬Å"If you ever disturb our streets again, your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peaceâ⬠(6). In fact, the prince gets so angry that he threatens their lives if they are to be fractious, and disturb the streets again with their feud. There is no doubt that the feud between the two families will induce a negative effect on Romeo and Julietââ¬â¢s relationship when they meet, as well as the community. It seems as everyone in the play is either on the Capuletââ¬â¢s side or the Montagueââ¬â¢s, and if they are not they are among the few who are trying to end this every lasting feud. Throughout the play it is clear that a personââ¬â¢s identity is strongly influenced by their family. As the play progresses, Shakespeare focuses on identity by having a motif of Romeo and Juliet focus primarily on the forbidden love of Romeo and Juliet. Throughout Act II, identity plays a key role in forming the relationship between Romeo and Juliet. While their love maybe forbidden, Romeo and Juliet seem to be impetuously developing an intense relationship: ââ¬Å"is but thy name that is my enemy; thou art thyself, though not a Montague. Whatââ¬â¢s a Montague? Nor arm, nor face nor any other part belonging to a manâ⬠(35). This proves that Juliet believes that Romeoââ¬â¢s name is

Definition and Examples of Person in English Grammar
In English grammar, the category of personà (etymology from the Latin persona, mask) identifies the relationship between a subject and its verb, showing whether the subject is speaking about itself (first personââ¬âI or we); being spoken to (second personââ¬âyou); or being spoken about (third personââ¬âhe, she, it, or they). Also called a grammatical person. Personal pronouns are so called because they are the pronouns to which the grammatical system of person applies. Reflexive pronouns, intensive pronouns, and possessive determiners also show distinctions in person. Examples and Observations According to linquistics expert, William OGrady, PhD, A widely attested type of verbal inflection in human language involves personââ¬âa category that typically distinguishes among the first person (the speaker), the second person (the addressee), and the third person (anyone else). In many languages, the verb is marked for both person and number (singular or plural) of the subject. When one category is inflected for properties (such as person and number) of another, the first category is said to agree with the second....Modern English has a [comparatively] impoverished system of person and number agreement in the verb, and an inflectional affix is used only for the third person singular in the non-past tense.à Bruce Woodley and Dobe Newton I amYou areWe are Australian. John Lennon and Paul McCartney I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together. The Three Persons in English (present tense) 1. First person: Walt Whitman I see great things in baseball. The Forms of Be According to The Oxford Dictionary of English Grammar, Be is unique among English verbs in having three distinctive person forms in the present tense (am, is, are) and two in the past tense (was, were). Other verbs have a distinctive form only for the third person singular of the present tense (e.g., has, does, wants, etc., as opposed to have, do, want, etc.). Eadweard Muybridge 1830-1904 Talented Photographers
Question: Discuss about the Report for Eadweard Muybridge 1830-1904 of Talented Photographers. Answer: Introduction Eadweard Muybridge is one of the most known talented photographers in the world though he died long time ago. He was born in England in the year 1830 in town called Surrey. He later moved to the United States of America in the year 1851 where he worked has a commission merchant for London printing and publishing company. While doing the merchant job, he was privileged to learn about photographic work from Selleck who used to produce images on a plate of chemically treated metal or glass. He died 74 years later. This photographer developed the best types of photos, which are far much best than those produced by the person who taught him artistic work. Characteristics of Muybridge This man possesses some distinctive characteristics which are very fundamental in the line of business. One of the most important significant characters he had was passion. This is viewed from the way he liked his job of photographing. He was always into his job and he never complained about it even for a single time. Muybridge left the work with the printing firm in order to fully base his work on the call for best sets of photographing work (Evans Glass, 2014). Furthermore, he traveled far and wide to take photographs and display them. Additionally he was a very hardworking man. Muybridge left his home country in search for job opportunity in another country was an aspect of hard work. He traveled all the way to the United States of America in search for green pastures at a very tender age of 20. This gives us an explicit view that he liked to grow to be an independent man in the society (Muybridge et al, 2010). This aspect is also illustrated through opening of his own firm and c ompanies dealing with printing work at the same time photo shop. Supplementary, he has seen has a very determined man. Despite the fact that there were great photographers in California the likes of Charles Weed and Robert Vance, he was never deterred but affirmed and started his photographing works. When he entered into this new market, he became the best beating his proponents in the industry. This generated the new person in him and thus opened his photo shop in California. Importance of the photographer Through the study of works of Muybridge, one depicts some of the most important features as shown by the work of this man. One of the advantages of studying this is to equip ourselves on the development and the enhancement of the photographic work. One gets the view that it was started way back in the 1980s with Muybridge being among the pioneers of the evolution of this artistic work. Through these studies, we realize that for one to succeed in this field, one ought to be dedicated. Muybridge travelled very far in the process of establishing himself in this field. The fanatics of photographer are given the knowledge, which requires them to always perform several trials in order to produce the intended results. This man tried several shots from all of types of view in producing of the snaps. Moreover, he makes us understand the role of specialization in the labor industry (Rascaroli, Young Monahan, 2014, p. 6). During his course of producing photographs, he was able to specialize la ter on human and animal movement styles. One sees that he was able to come up with a shoot, which clearly shows that man, and animals move in a given base. Additionally the manner of movement is unusually uniform on how they raise their legs from the surface. He always showed on the importance of education in any economic sector. This artist continued with learning and at the same time lecturing in the university. His soul aim was to perfect and know more on the photographic works. Most of his students and the colleagues admired his spirit of doing things. Most of the articles were written in remembrance of his determination to succeed even in times of trials. He was also fascinated in the accomplishment of the tasks in which one anticipated to do without being stopped by the circumstances. One sees that, he returned into photography work even after the trials he was facing as a result of killing of his wifes lover. He never gave up given the fact that the case is one of the mostly deadly and time-consuming. The context Through the analysis of the works of this man, one realizes that there were a lot of themes which evolved. Muybridge work was founded on the social consideration, cultural and the technical perspective. According to the social aspect, one get glue that this man was very outstanding (Cubitt, 2014). He travelled far in the process of doing photography work. He was often considering the information given to him by other people in the field of photography. These greatly build this man into the best one ever imagined off. Moreover, the position of being a student and a lecturer at the same a writer means that he had a great perception of connecting with people. His travelling needed a sociable and outgoing person (Stremba Bisson, 2009). This is because of travelling far and wide in the line of duty. According to cultural perspective, Muybridge failed this terribly. This is because he engaged too much on the unethical site of view while producing of the photographs. He was perplexed on th e nudity of both male and female from any angle. This is against the codes of ethics in the society (Philagrafika Organization, Moore College of Art and Design Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, 2011, p. 11). The murdering of the wifes lover presented him as a much uncultured man since killing is against the culture of the human race. Moreover, staying far away from his motherland means that it was too much into other cultures of the world than that of where he was routed. Additionally, this man loved city life very much. He travelled to several cities just to perform photographical work of those cities. Some of the examples of these cities are those of San Francisco in which he took between the year 1867 and 1881. After marrying, he did not have time for his wife causing her to commit adultery. His irresponsibility is to be blamed for this mess in the downfall for their marriage. The failure to attend the burial of his wife was also down fall for this great photographer (Leet Hill, 2011, p. 5). The all world is especially on the family law requires that the family especially the husband to be present in such event when the wife dies. Through living his son in the hands of the society th at is orphanage was very wrong and is criticized seriously by the cultural. It is required that the remaining parent ought to take care of the children after the other dies prematurely. According to technical perceptive, the photos of this photographer were into the point, as shown below: He ensured that they were instant on shutter. Through his technical brain in the field of arts, Muybridge was found to produce best photographs from different angles. The best which left the whole world in marvel was the jumping of the horse at a given length. Through the practice termed as galloping horse. In this series which he performed between the year 1872-1873, one finds that throughout this period he was intending to analyze a give characteristic of this animal jumping. His photographs deduced that people and animals actually move and permanently alter the perception of time and speed (as shown below): This was clearly illustrated through the subsequent demonstration he performed in Pennsylvania University in the year 1984 and 1987. This man is also termed the father of Zoo gyroscope. This is the situation in which shutter display of photos in a succession series (Morris, 2009, p. 7). This man advanced this technology in the year 1879. This gave him the name stop-action series photographer. A description he obtained from his fanatics in the photographing industry. Most of photographs gave the images of the reflection of the streets. For instance, the pictures he took between the year 1875-1876 shows Panama and Guatemala in very beautiful and captivating position admired by many up to date (as depicted below). Personal views about photographer Despite of the great memories in which he left in this world, I strongly view him an s a very reckless man due to the kind of concentration he gave and showed the public. Some of his work though admired by many depicts totally how immoral he was. The act of taking photos shows the body parts of male and the females is very much against the human codes of ethics. The society strongly disagrees with this. However, the great regency he left behind in the photographic industry should be emulated by the current generation and if possible they improved it and take into the other level (College Art Association of America, 2011, p. 5) Comparison of Muybridge works to those of other photographs in the 21st century Both the photos were taken by using of the shutter part of the camera. They were clear in nature and most were taken with and intention of passing out certain information. Besides, some were absolutely used for pleasuring of the eyes of the photographer (Leet Hill, 2011, p. 11). Differences The ancient photos used plate of chemically treated metal or the glass in showing of the production of the images of sites in the world. This was very difficult process though determined persons likes of Muybridge made it through and even advanced by inventing of the automatic shutters display (Adam, 2014). The 21st century photos solely depend in its production through the use of the computers and the laptops. This is very simple. It came in due to the advanced technology we are experiencing in this century. Reference List College Art Association of America. (2011). THE ODYSSEY Essays (551 words) - Greek Mythology, Mythology
THE ODYSSEY Ten years after the war of Troy Odysseus, is being kept in the island Ogygia against his own will by the nymph Calypso. Meanwhile in Ithaca, everyone think he's dead. Odysseus wife Penelope is being persuaded by unwanted. Telemachos son of Odysseus wants to fight the suitors, but he can't. The god Athena decides to help Telemachos on his quest to find his father. She takes him to Sandy Pylos and Lacedaimon to the kings Nestor and Menelaos. They inform him that he's still alive but being kept in Calypsos Island. Zeus sends Hermes to rescue Odysseus, in which he succeeds by convincing her to let him build a ship and leave. While he travels in his ship is destroyed by Poseidon. He's rescued by a woman called Nausicaa, and takes him to her father's palace. During the party to his honor he reveals his identity and he tells his adventures. Odysseus recounts how he and his crew went to the region of the cyclops. Where they were captured by Polymephos son of Poseidon. Odysseus tricked the giant and escaped. Then the god Aeolus gave them a bag of winds to travel. The men thinking it was riches opened it unleashing hurricanes which lead them to the island of Circe. They stayed with Circe for a year. After this they left to the underworld to get advice. They sailed for a series of adventures. First they passed by Sirens, Odysseus outsmarted them by plugging his ears. Next they met Scylla and Charybdis which almost ate them all. Afterwards they landed on the island of Helios the sun god, where Odysseus told them not to eat the cattle, they disobeyed and all of the crew except Odysseus died. Lastly he was kept in Ogygia for seven years. All of the Phaeacians filled a ship with treasures and sent him to his home town. Unfortunately Poseidon turned the ship in stone for revenge. Once he arrives at Ithaca Athena disguises him as a beggar, he recruits the swineherd, reveals himself to his son then he heads to his palace still disguised. Penelope says that she will marry the person who can shoot a bow of Odysseus through seven axes. No one could shoot the bow, until the beggar gets the bow and shoots it through the axes. Odysseus drops his disguise and with the help his son, and Athena's protection he kills the suitors. He reunites with his wife, but he kills a young nobleman during battle, and his parents are furious. Next morning he leaves the palace to his father Laertes, while the noblemen's parents look for vengeance. Athena appears and made peace with both families, and ended the strife forever. I loved this book because of all the challenges and adventures Odysseus tells. Personally I'm fascinated by Greek mythology. What I most learned of this book is how humans don't what to do after war. This book was set in peace time, but Odysseus didn't knew what to do after all his battle at Troy. He kills every suitor in his house, and every serving maid. This is a problem because it's not war like the Iliad and if it weren't for Athena's intervention with the nobleman's parents this cycle of battle would've continued until everyone would be dead.
